The Ferrari SP38 is a one-off model that was specially custom built for one of its loyal customers. It is built mainly based on the 488 GTB. According to the Italian supercar maker, the SP38 also draws inspirations from the F40 and the 308 GTB and the front portion has also been modified quite similar to the 488 GTB.
According to sources, the car was custom designed for a customer was also involved in the design and specifications and it took nearly 18 months to complete the project. And many super car manufacturers are following this trend of making custom built cars on specific requests for high-end customers. For example, Rolls Royce says that each and every car that comes out the garage does have one or two custom elements fitted into it based on the request from its customers. But it is not the same with Ferrari, even though they say that this custom car market is also an important aspect for them.
The new SP38 comes with new headlights and is designed to be slim to provide for a more masculine look and the day-time running lights have been shifted near the bumper lip. And the air intake in the Sp38 has been replaced by the bodywork and has been moved near to the rear side window. The rear look is totally different from the 488 GTB and the coloring has been specially developed for the SP38 and come in a 3-layer metallic red one-off shade. The body panels have been created using carbon fiber and the newer outlook is in total contrast to the looks of the 488 GTB. And the rear comes with carbon fiber bodywork replacing the glass engine cover.
The front has also been completely redesigned with a more horizontal design as the 488 GTB comes with a sort of inclined look. There is also a large lip spoiler added that almost resembles the 308 and the 208 turbo. But inside, most of the parts are similar to the 488 GT mechanics as the SP38 also comes with a twin turbo 3.9 liter V8 engine with a max 670 hp. Even though the performance stats have not been revealed, it is pretty much clear it can be better than the 488 GTB’s top speed of 330 kph and reaching 0-100 kph in less than 3 seconds. No details about the owner of Sp38 has been revealed yet and continue to remain anonymous.
