On the 9th and 10th of November 2018, a new luxury shopping, restaurant, entertainment and residential complex has been unveiled to the public.

The 54 billion-baht (US$ 1.5 billion) project funded by Siam Piwat group in joint venture with MQDC Magnolia Quality Development and Charoen Pokphand Group is likely to be the number one luxury complex in all Thailand.

With 525,000 m² of retail floor space and a total of 750,000 m² of occupied land, the ICONSIAM is also a world-class wonder of architecture: the 300 meters long glass façade along the banks of the Chao Phraya River is inspired by the Krathong (traditional elaborately-folded banana leaves, handcrafted for festivals and special occasions) and detains the record for the longest pleated glass façade in the world made with a superclear high-quality glass imported from Germany. The 10,000 m² riverfront also features a 400 meters long dancing fountain, the longest in SouthEast Asia, with audiovisual (music and lights) support, creating an outstanding spectacle better to be enjoyed during nighttime. Furthermore, the ICONSIAM’s design is inspired by the traditional Thai dress, wrapped around its most valuable part, the ICONLUXE.

The ICONSIAM complex is divided into three main sections: ICONSIAM, the main building, ICONLUXE facing the river, and the Siam Takashimaya facing the street, the most iconic and successful Japanese department store which represents the first opening in Thailand by Takashimaya at full-scale covering 35,000 m².

Each section is then further divided into different areas: from Sook Siam, featuring all the best local and artisanal items from fashion to handicrafts from all of the 77 provinces of Thailand, to the River Museum Bangkok set to open in July 2019 showcasing masterpieces from all over the world, to ICON CINECONIC entertainment complex featuring 14 luxurious cinemas equipped with the latest multimedia technologies, TrueICON Hall a world class facility for MICE and events, over 500 retailers (20% of which representing their first ever presence in the country) and over 100 restaurants including world renowned names.

The residential part of this incredible ICONSIAM complex is comprised of the Magnolia Waterfront Residences (315m tall, 70 floors, 300 units) and The Residences at Mandarin Oriental Bangkok (272m tall, 52 floors, 146 units). Both are world-class luxurious residential condominium buildings and the two towers are among the tallest buildings in Bangkok’s skyline.

Among the many top luxury retailers within this complex, here are our favorite ones:

Lurssen, one of the world’s popular shipbuilder started Project Mistral, a codename for building the private luxury yacht, Amadea in September 2013. It was delivered after several modifications after a period of 32 months in April 2016 to its owner. The Amadea measures around 106 m in length and was designed by the famous luxury yacht designer Espen Oeino. Once it was delivered it certainly attracted a lot of attention in the luxury yacht circle even when not much of it details were revealed either Lurssen or by its owner. Most of the details were brought based on photos taken by other yacht enthusiasts and journalists. And Amadea certainly stands among the top 40 super luxury yachts in the world.

Amadea comes with a steel hull and is built based on an aluminum superstructure and was mainly built based on the Lloyd’s Registry classification. The luxury superyacht comes with a gross tonnage of 2999GT and also features large helicopter pad along with a huge swimming pool. There are also many luxury amenities provided in the Amadea as some were customized and created based on the request by its owner. The 106 m long luxury yacht makes the Amadea as one of the largest luxury superyachts in the world. The Amadea was built in the company’s Rendsburg Shipyard in Germany.

The luxury superyacht also comes equipped with zero-speed stabilizers, so that even when the ship is in anchor you would feel any kind of wobbly feeling and also when the ship is cruising in rough waters. Zero-speed stabilizers are commonly featured in most of the luxury superyachts being designed in the last couple of years as these take the on-board comfort to the next level. When it comes to luxury and comfort, Amadea is abundant with it as you can land in the Amadea directly from a helicopter as the luxury superyacht is equipped with a large helicopter pad. There is also a separate passageway for the crew to move between different sections of the yacht so that they don’t disturb the occupant’s privacy.

Amadea features around 5 decks made with teak and comes with a lot of luxury amenities including:

  • Large helicopter pad at the bow
  • Huge swimming pool
  • Large Swimming platform
  • Lifts
  • Five extensive decks
  • Underwater lights
  • Movie theatre
  • Fully equipped spa
  • Massage Room
  • BBQ
  • Beauty Room
  • Study room
  • Along with various entertainment areas and lounging sections throughout the luxury superyacht.

The all-new Marine Chronograph 5527 launched by Breguet is an excellent addition to the Marine collection and truly stands as one of the best watches in the collection with a sporty outlook.

The Marine Chronograph 5527 named after the famous French army watchmaker, Abraham Louis Breguet combined traditional watchmaking process with innovative technical solutions to create an exquisite masterpiece. The 5527 is available in 3 variants with variations in the case including 18K white gold, titanium and 18k pink gold and also the dial is available in three colors in deep blue, brown and white respectively.

The overall outlook is mainly dominated by the matt brushed surface and the bezel comes striking with mirror polished look. The roman numerals are neatly arranged and are filled with SuperLumiNOVA phosphorous material. As the name suggests, the center is designed in a wave pattern blue color dial largely complements this wave pattern. Usually the date display is present near 3’0 clock but the 5527 comes with a date display with a background that matches to the wave pattern and is present between the 4 and 5 hour indices.

The 5527 comes adorned with sapphire crystals that are completely scratch resistant and the back of the case looks elegant as well and also fitted strongly with 7 screws along with the screw-lock winding crown present in the center. Breguet claims that the watch is water resistant for a distance of upto 100 meters and that is more than enough for day to day use and you never need to worry about any damage to your watch for some light water spills.

Powered by caliber 582QA which was built completely in-house and when it was fully wound the watch can stay powered for almost 48 hours. Another interesting aspect of the 5527 is the chronograph functionality as the hour display is provided in the bottom, whereas the seconds to the left and the minutes to the right. The chronograph movement alone is made using a whopping 346 parts. You can also choose between rubber straps or alligator leather straps.

The Swiss watchmaker Breguet remains as one of the leading watchmakers that releases every now and then with some classic watches and definitely the 5527 is a true classic that cleverly blends modern techniques to provide an exquisite marine watch that is perfectly ideal for an enjoyable day at the sea.

“Life’s too short to wear boring clothes.” Quoted by Carly Cushnie, this statement holds true for all the top luxury brands in the world. With the ever-evolving fashion tenor, each brand is coming up with newer and more fad looks. Here we give you the most luxurious clothing brands that have held their own for whatever has gone by of 2018.

LOUIS VUITTON

louis vuitton 2018

No brand has ever reached to the level Louis Vuitton has been standing for years. This 28 billion dollar net worth French brand has the likes of all A-list Hollywood celebrities’ with Sarah Jessica Parker and Angelina Jolie quoting it to be their most favorite brand. The 2018 spring collection that combined royalty with street style was exhibited at the Louvre’s Pavillon de l’Horloge. The designer ripped the corset and ruffled bust lines of the dresses and added straps to enhance the street to royalty.

RALPH LAUREN

ralph lauren 2018

Launched in 1967 by Ralph Lauren, this brand is not just limited to clothing. Although apparel is a strong suite of this brand, accessories, and fragrances are also part of the elaborate products it offers. The 2018 ready to wear collection was launched in a see-now-buy-now manner which was Caribbean inspired and was flowing with summery colors and designs, transporting viewers to Jamaica, where the look was inspired from.

VERSACE

gianni versace 2018

After the brutal death of Gianni Versace, his sister Donatella took to the task of exploring new trends and delivering hip designs each season. Her spring 2018 show at Milan’s Triennale museum was an iconic one and marked the celebration of the genius of her brother Gianni as 2018 was the 20th death anniversary of the fashion guru. The pieces were particularly retro cut with strong shoulders with a more relaxed and freeing tailoring.

GIORGIO ARMANI

giorgio armani 2018

The man and the brand are famous for their professional aesthetics and designing, but nothing beats the tailoring, which is the cornerstone of this brand. The 2018 Armani collection emphasized on the intricacy of print and the finesse of the guiding hand with the collection comprising of abstracted check jacquard jackets and some malleably tailored menswear pieces.

DOLCE AND GABBANA

Dolce & Gabbana 2018

Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana’s luxurious Italian fashion house functioning since the year 1985 is a true revelation of fashion. Their 2018 spring collection revolved around the idea of love and was called by the designers as “Queen of Hearts”. The extravagantly plush pieces were seen reflecting the insignia and scepter of the 52 card deck engulfed in fruity designs and corseted dresses marking their 30th anniversary.

DIOR

Christian Dior 2018

The year 2018 has brought with itself a lot of awareness and with it a newly inspired feminism. This was taken up by Dior too, where the 2018 spring couture collection spoke feminism throughout. The theme was surrealism and Christian Dior took up to the task to prove it. From white ottoman bar-jacketed suits to a black tuxedo paired with a dramatic cloak, and variety of dresses from a cloudy ecru chiffon dress to a black and white curved optical printed gown, Dior performed to the fullest to exhibit surrealism.

BURBERRY

Burberry 2018

From the streets of Hampshire to the runways of Milan, Burberry has such a signature that’s its own and rages with originality. The 2018 fall collection named TIME has been focused on the past, present, and future of Burberry and amalgamated all of these in the elaborate designs and prints on the stage. The shellsuits, the oversized raver parkas, the grunge tribute fleece hoodies worn over long skirts, transported viewers to a nostalgia specific to Burberry.

CHANEL

Chanel 2018

Launched by the French designer Coco Chanel in the year 1920, her first product – a fragrance and a black dress, sent waves of excitement and regeneration throughout the fashion world. The 2018 fall couture line reflected originality yet predictability of design. The unpretentious Haute Couture show was set in a predictable classic French garden with pastel themed silhouettes and evening wears, and particularly slim and narrowed metallic mini dresses with chiffon veils kissing the ground.

PRADA

Prada 2018

Being one of the most palatial and lavish brands and holding a net worth of 9.4 billion dollars, Miuccia Prada’s brainchild is a fashion house that originated from Milan. This elitist footwear and handbag designer has paved its way to the runways extravagantly.

The designer mentioned that her 2018 spring collection was “interested in someone, who can be active and present today.” The collection was feisty and mature with big overcoats, pushed up sleeves, oversized jackets and mash-ups of animal prints.

GUCCI

Gucci 2018

This philanthropic brand has to its name indulgent fame and a net worth of 7 billion dollars. Being known for its luxurious leather goods and crafts, this brand makes donations to UNICEF regularly. The 2018 fall collection was inspired by the designer’s mental process. Wanting to exhibit the cores of his brain, and the processes that run through his head, models were made to walk the ramp in a Frankenstein like scene. The collection harbored Russian Babushka headscarves, pagoda hats and Scottish plaid and Fair Isle sweaters.
