Located on the 50th floor of the FKI (Federation of Korean Industries) building, the Gotgan provides some of the best Korean cuisine in Seoul. It is owned by Lee Jong Guk and headed by Chef Choi Eun Mi who carries the legacy left by his predecessors in providing cuisine cooked using traditional Korean cooking styles and using seasonal ingredients and flavors. There is no public dining hall in the restaurant as you can book only for private dining rooms. It is an ideal place to hang out with friends for a birthday party or conduct a business lunch with your clients.
The food at the Gotgan is pretty much tender and composition of the menu is fresh and consists of many different varieties. The staff is courteous and service is impeccable. One of the interesting aspect of the Gotgan is the mesmerizing view it offers of the Han River from the top.
Overall, the dining experience at the Gotgan is awesome even though the price is little bit on the higher side. You can even choose the order of the menu while giving your order so that it suits your eating style and also lingers in your taste buds for some time.
Chef Choi Eun Mi, the head Chef at Gotgan, is also an ardent food researcher who is always interested in learning more about traditional flavors and ingredients. He lays a lot of emphasis on using the seasonal ingredients for each and every dish and all ingredients are sourced from around the country. Also, only traditional and home-made sauce are used in the preparation of the dishes to achieve the fresh flavor and most of the recipes are used are traditional Korean recipes.
Chef Choi is much acclaimed in the Korean dining scene for his use of traditional recipes and also for highlighting the traditional Korean haute cuisine. But he is also a master in making some of the finest modern Korean cuisines as that helps in elevate the importance of Korean cuisine across the globe.
